What’s the difference between liposuction and a thigh lift?

Right now, you may find yourself dreaming of slimmer, more toned thighs to strut your stuff in the hot summer months.

A healthy diet and plenty of exercise can get you the results you want. But what if those results are limited or simply haven’t had any effect on you? Well, all is not lost, because cosmetic surgery in Tunisia can make your dreams come true!

There are two common procedures for slimming and reshaping the thighs: liposuction and a thigh lift. Contrary to what some patients think, the two procedures are not interchangeable, let alone similar.

At mon voyage santé, in partnership with Dr. Moez Kallel, we are the experts on these two cosmetic surgeries in Tunisia and can help you understand which one will give you the thigh shape you’re looking for.

First, let’s start by appreciating the differences between liposuction and a thigh lift. It is extremely important that you understand these differences so that you can make your decision with confidence.

Liposuction of the thighs

Liposuction of the thighs is an aesthetic surgery which has been performed for several years in Tunisia by Dr. Moez Kallel. It is performed under general anaesthetic and lasts 2 hours.

The aim of liposuction of the thighs is to remove the excess fat accumulated in this area. This involves liposuction of the outer thighs (commonly known as the saddlebags) as well as the inner thighs and knees.

During liposuction of the thighs, a cannula is inserted through small incisions hidden in the natural folds of the skin. Dr. Moez Kallel then sucks out the indicated amount of fat, closes the incisions with absorbable sutures and covers the wounds with a dressing.

By the end of the operation, the results are already spectacular, with slimmer, more toned thighs and the disappearance of saddlebags.

Liposuction of the thighs is an effective and long-lasting way of reshaping this area, provided that a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet are respected.

It is generally reserved for patients who have localised fat that is resistant to diet and exercise but who remain close to their ideal weight. These patients must also have good skin elasticity.

Thigh lift

Although liposuction of the thighs is an ideal solution for many patients who are unhappy with the shape of their thighs, it is not always the best solution to adopt.

In fact, for patients who have recently lost a lot of weight, or who have sagging skin following pregnancy, or who are affected by natural skin ageing, a thigh lift is the best option, as the sagging skin must be treated as a priority.

A thigh lift (or cruroplasty) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that has been performed for several years in Tunisia by Dr. Moez Kallel. It is performed under general anaesthetic and lasts around 2 hours.

The aim of the facelift is to remove excess skin and re-tension it.

It may or may not be accompanied by liposuction at the beginning of the operation.

There are 3 approaches to a thigh lift depending on the amount of excess skin found:

When the patient has significant excess skin, the incision is vertical and is made along the inside of the thigh from top to bottom. Its length depends on the amount of skin to be removed.

If the excess skin is moderate and located on the upper part of the thighs, the incision is horizontal and hidden in the natural fold of the thigh.
